Discussion:
[TYPO3] captcha on regular mailforms

Hello all,

I would be interested to sponsor on this feature 150 e. If this is not
enough, maybe there would be others who would be willing to join me?

Spamming is a real and big problem and this would probably help all
t3-users.

I am somewhat familiar with the existing extensions mailformplus etc.
What I - and propably many others - really would love is the regular t3
form with the captcha feature (preferably Bernhard Kraft's
http://think-open.org/kraftb/index/T3X_captcha-1_0_0-kb.t3x). This way
we could give our customers the possibility to setup forms with a good
spam control.

BTW if this is a wrong list or way to announce this, apologies and
please let me know the right way to do it :)

Katja

Hello,

There is already an extention for mailform it only Works with TYPO3 v4.x
"nd_antispam"

I hope this is what you are looking for.

Roland

But there is IMHO no such a word: extention.

Hi Roland,

Thank you for your answer. This extension puts captcha on every form on
site, for example on search form too - so it's not usable really. Maybe
there is a way to avoid this, but I didn't figure it out. I also sent a
question last autumn for the extension author about this, but the author
was too busy then and told maybe to get back to it (never heard anything
though).

So, still searching....

There was a long discussion recently on the dev list about revamping
the FORM cObj. Partick Broens seems to be leading the effort, but I
don't know where that project stands now. Maybe you can get in touch
with him.

On the other hand, have you tried extensions like timtab_badbehavior
or mf_akismet which are supposed to protect against spam and spambots
and can be activated for any submission from the frontend?

I tried, actually installed it yesterday, timtab_badbehavior (tried with
strict too) but the "hello" messages still flowed in. (And in the same
time my site seemed to operate this morning a lot slower - I don't
suppose this had anything to do with it but anyway it didn't help). But
I will look into the mf_akismet now. Thanks a lot Francois!

Okay - I missed the dev discussion totally and now I can see there is
something big going on with the form object, that is great!

Anyway meanwhile, if the captcha is possible to add as code to some core
files or as an extension to regular form (not to all forms), I still
keep my sponsoring offer valid :)

mf_akismet seems to be for modern guestbook.

I haven't tried it myself, but as far as I understand it uses a hook
in modern guestbook, but could use the same hook as
timtab_badbehavior, so could be used for all FE submission.

This is not guaranteed, but maybe worth a try.

Hi everyone who's still searching for a spam solution,

This updated nd_antispam (+captcha) is working now perfectly, it adds
the captcha only to the mailforms (not also to search form like it used
to do).
So it has worked perfectly for a day now, no spam at all :)

Hello Katia,

I'm Cristiano from Italy.

It's possible to have a copy of the extension nd_antispam?
Now it's no more available in Typo3 Repository.

Thank you,

Now I'm using the plugin powermail with wt_spamshield for mail forms
building and they work great!
