Hi, I successfully installed typo3 and can access the backend.

There is an error showing on the front end. I assume because there is no template selected. I would like to install the basic bootstrap template.

I went to > Extension Manager then in the top left went to the drop down and selected "Get Pre-configured Distribution".
I see "The Official Introduction Package" and click INSTALL. I receive the following error:

Service Unavailable (503)

No pages are found on the rootlevel!

---------------------------------------
Anyone have any insight as to how and get the front end up?

Would appreciate any assistance.

Hi,

well it states what could be the problem: do you have made any pages
(i.e. page record, pages that are to be the content of the site) in
BackEnd? If there are none, then none can be shown.

Thanks for responding Nils.

Ok I will create the page first. My mind was working in a "joomla/wordpress type" environment where I would install the template first. I thought the message was related to a problem with the installation when I could not install the template. I will give it a go and update this post.

Hi Nils,

Unfortunately that didn't work. I added a page.

Then went to install the template via extension manager, I receive the following message: Oops, an error occurred!

Metadata can only be retrieved for indexed files.

When I check the live site on the front end, it says: Service Unavailable (503)

No TypoScript template found!

I am not sure what step I am missing. I did not find anything that referenced the error when I searched online.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Hi Nils,

I created a new page under WEB and make sure it was enabled. Then I attempted to install the template via "Extension Manager". Once I click install, I receive the following error:

Oops, an error occurred!

Metadata can only be retrieved for indexed files.

When I look on the front end of the website it says:

"Service Unavailable (503)

No TypoScript template found!"

I am not sure if I am attempting to install the template correctly via > extension manager > get preconfigured distribution

I did not see anything regarding this error online so I am lost at this point.

please advise, thank you!

Are you sure that you are on a fresh 6.2 installation?

That is normal, because you do not have a template yet. You can either
create one or it will come with a distribution.

I am not sure if I am attempting to install the template correctly via >
extension manager > get preconfigured distribution
That is the correct way.

Best regards

Hi,

When you install the "The official Introduction Package", it will also add 3 extensions in typo3conf/ext/. One of them is called "introduction". Go in this extension and you will find a file named data.t3d (typo3conf/ext/introduction/Initialisation/data.t3d). All you need to do is import the t3d and you will have a complete site. To import the t3d, you have to click on the icon left of your top page to bring the context menu and you will have the option there.

Hope this helps,

Johnny

Hope you found the problem. I had a few problems in this phase of the setup before where I took hours to days to find a solution. If it is an empty Typo3 I start with a new installation to make sure the files had been uploaded correctly.

In your initial post you said you had an error in the frontend. Was that already the message that the template was missing or a different error?

Thanks for responding!

I am going to start from scratch again, but the past few responses were helpful.

I was getting:

"Service Unavailable (503)
No TypoScript template found!"

* I will start the process from scratch and update this posting.
